14 July 2009
The Mount Gambier Cycling and Triathlon Club have secured local business Associated Roof Tiling as the major sponsor for its premier road racing event, the Alex Roberts 100 Mile Classic for the next two editions of the prestigious race.
In 2010 and 2011 the marquee event on the local cycling calendar will be known as the Associated Roof Tiling Alex Roberts 100 Mile Classic.
Owned and operated by Matthew and Tina Opperman, Associated Roof Tiling is a locally based roofing firm that has operated in Mount Gambier and surrounding areas for in excess of 15 years.
In the two most recent editions of the 100 Mile Classic, Associated Roof Tiling has sponsored the women’s division of the race, and for 2010 and 2011 have generously increased their support to become principal naming rights sponsor.
The Mount Gambier Cycling and Triathlon Club have been successful in developing the 100 Mile Classic to unprecedented participation levels in recent years with a record field of 170 riders nominating for the 2009 race.
The club anticipates with the ongoing commitment from Associated Roof Tiling which is the richest sponsorship in the history of the race, that the 100 Mile Classic will continue to grow and cement it’s status as the premier one day cycling race on the South Australian calendar.
In addition to the support from Associated Roof Tiling for the 100 Mile Classic, McDonalds Family Restaurant and the City of Mt Gambier both have committed to supporting the Blue Lake Cup in 2010, which again will be staged the day after the 100 Mile Classic around the circumference of the famous Mt Gambier landmark.
With the inaugural running of the Blue Lake Cup in 2009 being hailed a tremendous success, the Mount Gambier Cycling and Triathlon Club is grateful for the continuing financial support of McDonalds Family Restaurant and the City of Mt Gambier in assisting to further develop this exciting event.
The Associated Roof Tiling Alex Roberts 100 Mile Classic will be held on Saturday May 8th in 2010, with the Blue Lake Cup and support races to be conducted the following day.
